Me & Simona is the first of a series of collaborative singles by singer/songwriter Harry Orme and songwriter/producer Frankie Harper (In The Morning Lights), written and recorded at Frankie's studio in Leeds. Having both cut their teeth as sidemen/collaborators for nearly a decade, this is their debut release under their own names.
Me & Simona is a minimalist vignette about family, childhood, and the struggle to reconcile our memories of the past with our image of our present selves. Inspired by the collaboration between King Creosote and Jon Hopkins, much of the surrounding production was created by manipulating background sounds and outtakes from the guitar/vocal sessions.
Harry has opened for world-renowned songwriters such as Big Thief, Scott Matthews, Tiny Ruins, Sara Watkins and Ciaran Lavery. Frankie’s previous work has been played on BBC Radio 1, 3 and 6, has been chosen as Radio 1 ‘Track of the Week’ and has charted #12 on the Spotify ‘Viral 50’ chart.
